Jo-Marie Baker was a daily newspaper journalist for a decade before she launched Tailor-Made Media in 2008. With a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism under her belt from Canterbury University, she landed a sought-after position at the NZ Herald and spent five years learning from the best daily news reporters and feature writers in the country.

In 2004 she moved to Tauranga and became Chief Reporter at the Bay of Plenty Times. This is where her editing, proof-reading, time management skills and news judgement really came to the fore, as she led a team of 10 reporters to produce six editions a week.

Today she works with individual businesses as well as PR/marketing and digital design agencies to produce written content spanning a wide range of industries. She can provide an extra pair of hands within your existing comms or marketing team to take on overflow work, or deliver specific writing projects directly for you.

Jo-Marie is a natural wordsmith and a whiz at shorthand. She knows exactly where every apostrophe should be, and years of working to newspaper deadlines means the job is always completed on time.

Her other passions in life include playing and coaching netball, taking on 'dance mum' duties for her two teenage girls, and being involved in Tauranga's musical theatre community.
